Surreal Cinema was scheduled to start at 8pm tonight (Wednesday) at the Fireweed Theatre but really will not be able to get started until 8:30pm. We made a mistake in calculating the screening time needed for the previous film and just caught the error today. Sorry about that.
We have three great programs going head to head tonight (Wednesday)–the Martini Matinee (8pm at Anchor Pub & Club), the feature Once (8pm at Fireweed), and Surreal Cinema (8:30pm at Fireweed).
Martini Matinee is our short attention span cinema for the fabulous cosmo film crowd! These films are not the usual mix. A movie trivia contest with some great prizes will be part of the evening’s festivities. Tickets are $10 or free entry with ALL EVENT PASS.
Surreal Cinema includes some unusual films stressing the subconscious or nonrational significance of imagery arrived at by automatism or the exploitation of chance effects, unexpected juxtapositions, and strange stories.
Once is the AIFF 2007 Center Piece Film and is being shown on the big screen at the Fireweed. Once is the winner of the 2007 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award.
There are four features screening tonight (Tuesday), including a late night screening of The Metrosexual (10pm at the Fireweed). Well, its late for a weekday night for a 40-something like me. The other features include Your Beautiful Cul De Sac Home (5:30pm at Bear Tooth), Body/Antibody (7:45pm at Bear Tooth) and A Cold White Place (6pm at Fireweed).
If features aren’t your thing, or you just want a change of pace, check out The Mix (Fireweed at 8pm) for some of this year’s best shorts and animation.
