The Ellsworth Foundation

The Ellsworth Foundation

Atwood Foundation

Perhaps no family has had more influence on the development of Alaska’s social, economic and civic life than that of Bob Atwood and his wife, Evangeline Rasmuson Atwood.

Over a period of almost 70 years, Bob, Evangeline and their daughters Marilyn and Elaine made change and progress a part of their lives. Their efforts and leadership inspired visions of greatness and hope among those who were part of Alaska in territorial days and in the years that followed after statehood became a reality.

The Atwood Foundation was established in 1962 to benefit and advance the community of Anchorage, Alaska, particularly its young people, by financially assisting the initiation, completion and maintenance of non-profit organization projects and programs in the fine arts, journalism, history and other civic enterprises.

Richard L & Diane M Block Foundation

Richard and Diane Block created the Richard L & Diane M Block Foundation to support charitable, social service, and cultural & arts organizations throughout the great state of Alaska.

The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on the young who will lead and power the state’s future; the cultural organizations that inspire the community intellectually and artistically; and the social service organizations that lift up the poor so they may permanently and independently share in Alaska’s bounty.

For social service agencies that apply, the Foundation requires that they demonstrate they will address the causes of the needs they are serving and that they are making efforts to fix the underlying problem.
